Dr. Sharee McCray is the Clinical Nurse Specialist for a 98-bed Rehabilitation Hospital, providing clinical expertise to 4 Inpatient Rehab units. She holds her BSN at University of South Carolina and both an MSN and DNP at the University of South Alabama. Dr. McCray has been a CNS for 4.5 years and an RN for 14 years. She is board certified in Adult/Gerontology and certified in Rehabilitation. Dr. McCray serves as the Chair for the Systemwide Falls Prevention Committee, the Falls Advisory Board, and is a member of a variety of committees addressing concerns for patient safety and quality care at WakeMed Health and Hospitals. As the CNS for WakeMed Rehab, she utilizes evidence-based practice to achieve optimal nurse sensitive outcomes for falls prevention, patient safety, and provides clinical expertise at the unit, nursing, and system level. In addition, she partnered in forming a Mobility and Safe Patient Handling program systemwide. She has also presented on topics including tailoring prevention strategies and interventions to prevent falls and use of a pressure injury prevention program to prevention hospital acquired pressure injuries. Dr. McCray received the Pyramid Award in 2023 for her systemwide impact in falls prevention and quality care.
